As the longest night invites us inward, we’ll honor the ancient rhythms of birth, darkness, imagination, and return, held gently within our local birthing community. Together, we’ll explore how art and ritual can prepare us for birth, nurture the postpartum spirit, and reconnect us with our own creativity and intuition.
No artistic experience is required—only a willingness to enter this space with curiosity and an open heart. You’ll leave with a personal piece of birth-inspired artwork, renewed energy, and a sense of being held by community, by rest, and by the turning of the year.
This retreat is co-facilitated by three local guides:
✨ Elizabeth Gittlein (Fable Tattoo Studio) — Artist, tattooer, and emerging doula guiding our birth-inspired art making
✨ Maeruk (The Holding Practice) — Leading us in Yoga Nidra to soften the body, settle the mind, and open a dreamspace for insight and rest
✨ Dalecia Young (Due North Support Services) — Full-spectrum doula and lead facilitator of the Full Embrace Doula Training, offering grounding birthwork teachings for parents and practitioners
Together, we’ll explore:
🌙 rest + ritual
🌙 birth stories + imagery
🌙 intuitive art
🌙 connecting families with doulas, and doulas with community
What to Expect:
We’ll begin by building a shared community altar, followed by gentle movement, deep rest, and visualization. We’ll then gather in circle for introductions and move into art-making with a guiding prompt (with full freedom to follow your own creative path). We’ll close with a final Yoga Nidra and collective grounding to seal the evening.
Community Altar (optional to bring):
A small object representing birth, transformation, rest, or intuition
A photo, stone, shell, written word, or symbol of someone you’re honoring
Something connected to your pregnancy, postpartum journey, birthwork, or creative path
Lunch Note:
✨ Lunch is provided. Food orders will be collected upon arrival, so please do your best to arrive on time to ensure a smooth and nourished experience for everyone.
